The Society of the Friends of St. Patrick in Troy will be celebrating their 114th annual formal dinner at Franklin Terrace Ballroom, Campbell Avenue Troy on March 17th 2020 with a cocktail hour at 6PM and dinner at 7PM.  The officers of the Society include President Matthew P. McGarvey, Vice-President Tyler P. Fane, Vice-President Hon. Ellen M, McNulty-Ryan, Toastmaster Michael Zwack.

The Society inducts new directors each year and this year they include:

leachvincentVincent J.  Leach grew up in South Troy, on Stowe Hill. He graduated from  CCHS in ’66, attended HVCC until joining the US Navy in March of ’68. After completing 4 years of military service, he returned to HVCC and went on to SUNY Albany, earning a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. On September 11, 1970, he married Kathleen Agars and raised three children on Pawling Avenue in Troy where he still resides.

Vince joined the Troy Fire Department in April 1975, serving until August 1998.  Throughout his career, with the Troy Fire Department, he was the Proprietor of VR Roofing & Co. and Vincent J. Leach Tax Prep.  After retiring from the Fire Department, he pursued a full time career in the tax preparation and consulting field.

Tom McGuire is engaged in New York’s Capital Region actively working with not-for-profit organizations that appreciate and celebrate our area as a great place to live, work and flourish, rising to meet human challenges, especially for people-in-need.

Mr. McGuire has participated in Friends of St. Patrick celebrations most years since 1997. As a graduate of RPI in Economics (1972) and Urban & Environmental Studies (1973), he served Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway as its first Executive Director, and continues to advocate for preserving, interpreting and adaptively reusing the area’s historic industrial, architectural, archeological treasures as resources for building its future. Subsequent economic consulting work led to commercial real estate finance at a number of banks, including Home & City, Troy Savings Bank, First Niagara, and ultimately Key Bank, from which Mr. McGuire retired in 2018. Community activities have long been an important part of Mr. McGuire’s banking engagement, including volunteer Board service over many years at groups such as Friends of the Troy Public Library, Heritage Artists, Troy Chromatics, United Urban Ministry / Troy Area United Ministry, and numerous other organizations. Mr. McGuire completed 16 years on the Board of Directors of Albany’s Homeless & Travelers Aid Society (HATAS), and currently serves on the Board, Executive and Finance Committees of Capital Roots [promoting healthy food and green spaces for all], Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club, Inc., and Covington Woods Homeowners Assn.

Married to Barbara Bradley, who has retired from the NYS School Boards Association, and currently living in Guilderland, Tom McGuire enjoys travel with family and friends, and visits with his daughter and her husband, two granddaughters in Brooklyn, and with a son studying marine sciences at Stony Brook University and oyster farming on Long Island’s Atlantic shore
